Wedding Cake Pictures from Iconica Photographers!

When it comes to picking a wedding cake, it’s a huge decision!  The first order of business, and the best part, is to pick the flavor.  Who doesn’t love a cake tasting?  Next, you’ll need to design it, and boy, there are a lot of options.

Take a look at some of the wedding cake pictures below that we captured at recent weddings, and think about it — do you want a traditional wedding cake, or would you prefer cupcakes?  Would a round or a square cake be best?  Will you require just one tier, two tiers, or possibly more?  After you decide on the shape, you’ll need to pick colors, of course.  It seems that most people prefer either a traditional white or a cream-colored cake, but you can also coordinate it with your wedding theme.

Fondant is another popular wedding option.  It looks absolutely beautiful and photographs well, but you can’t really eat it.  If you and your fiancé are icing lovers, you should probably forgo the fondant.

Once you pick the color, the shape, and the icing type, it’s time to decide on the overall look of your wedding cake.  In a contemporary wedding, there’s a lot of room to be playful here.

One couple we worked with chose to put bride and groom bobble heads on their cake instead of a traditional cake topper.   Another tier on the same cake had a bobble head of the bride playing soccer, and the last tier had a bobble head of the groom playing golf.  These wedding cakes may not scream elegance, but they do project the personalities of the bride and groom in a really fun and creative way.

Whatever you choose, your cake should be thought of as an extension of your personality.  So get out there, enjoy your tastings, and have lots of fun!
